The Operation and Maintenance of Battery

The Storage batteries are made up of a number of single batteries, and designed just for supplying energy for electric cars. Whether batteries are used and maintained properly or not will have a direct impact on the service life of batteries and the straight driving mileage of cars.
1.    Discharge the storage batteries under the normal use.
a. In order to prolong battery’s service life, discharge should not exceed 80% of rated capacity; when pointer of voltmeter staying in yellow indication value or the last indication of voltage meter beginning to flickering, stop discharging. After discharging, the single 6V battery voltage should not be less than 5.4V, and the electrolyte density should not be less than 1.13g/cm3. The battery should be charged without delay.
b. If the battery is over discharged, the charging will become very difficult and require more time. At next discharging, the battery will begin with a very low voltage, and repeated cycle will cause the battery failure.
c. The battery should be charged as soon as possible after deep discharge. It is suggested that the discharged battery should not be set aside more than a day. In addition, battery discharge over 80% rated capacity will lead to shorten service life.
2. Charge Steps(Normal Charging)
a. Prior to charging. It is suggested to set aside the battery for some time after use.
b. The battery should be only charged by the charger matched, as the same type of charger can only serve for the same type of battery.
c. Battery electrolyte plug cap and battery cover should be opened or removed.
d. Under the closed state, the output plug of the charger should be connected to battery socket reliably.
e. After charger power plug is connected and the charger is turned on, the charger will begin to charge the battery automatically.
f. finish charging, the charger will automatically turn off.
g. When cutting off power, the charger switch should be firstly turned off and then the charging plug should be removed.Batteryelectrolyte plug cap and battery cover should well covered.
3. Charging for long-term Resting or Occasional Used Battery
a. The battery will self-discharge when it is rested, and the self-discharging will reduce battery power, which will cause plate sulfuration and shorten service left.
b. If the battery is not always in use, it must be kept in cool and dry place after full charging, and recharged at least once each month.
C. If the battery is set aside for a long time, it should be recharged and the electrolyte density and electrolyte level should be rechecked.
3. Maintenance of Storage Batteries
   When repairing and maintaining battery, the tool with insulation handle should be equipped to avoid short circuit of battery and any harm to body. Since the electrolyte is a toxic and corrosive sulfuric acid solution, personal protective tools including rubber apron, gloves, boots, safety goggles, etc. should be provided, specially for eye protection.
a.    Charge the battery after every discharge.
b.    The electrolyte level must be examined after every charge, if necessary, distilled water or deionized water should be added to the nominal level which should not lower than battery protective plate.
c.    Electrolyte should not be added with the sulfuric acid solution or tap water, river water and well water and other liquids containing impurities.
d.    Metal or other impurities should be prevented from falling into battery to avoid an internal sort circuit.
e.    Terminal bolts of the battery should be checked every week, and tighten it if necessary.
f.    In order to avoid leakage and corrosion resulted from terminal oxidation, the battery should always be kept clean and dry.
g.    The electrolyte density for all single battery should be checked and recorded at least once a month before and after charging. If the value is out of normal range or different from that of the former, the after-sale department should be contacted for further test and maintenance.
h.    Balanced charging should be done to the battery once or twice each month( balanced charging should be done with less current after the normal charging).
